We live in the world of constantly evolving and changing technology. During last few years we became more and more used to mobile devices. They can make our lives easier, help us with everyday task and activities and connect us with other people around the globe in real-time. But they can also make our lives harder, when they don’t work as we expect or when they are working against us, the customers, the developers and the users.

Therefore an idea was born, idea about smartphone platforms openness, about open & mobile devices (salute to Openmoko!), idea about sharing the Open Source ideas with broader mobile community, idea about the Openmobility conference. We are inspired by FLOSS mobile platforms and Open Source Hardware (OSHW) movement. We decided to make a conference for community by community and free for everyone. We want YOU to speak about Open Source mobile platforms, present your Open Source applications, tell us about your hardware or radio hacking achievements, show us your Open Source Hardware phone, board, shield, bone or just smartphone, tablet or other mobile device running GNU/Linux distribution, *BSD or fully Open Source version of Android.

Then give a speech, lightning talk or workshop to potentially hundreds of listeners. This year our annual Openmobility conference becomes international event. Lectures should be presented in English language also with English slides.

• Speeches are limited to 30 minutes, but you can get more time. If you feel that your topic needs more time for presentation, write us how much time do you need and we can arrange it.
• Lightning talks are short 5 minutes presentations used to just introduce a topic to listeners, without throwing them into details. In the end, you can provide link to website with more informations.
• Workshops are on individual agreement. Tell us your ideas!

When and where?

The Openmobility conference will be held on 21st April 2012 (Saturday) in Prague, the capital city of Czech Republic – “The Heart of Europe”.

About organizers

We are Openmobility, non-profit members organization based in the Czech Republic. We support our local open & mobile community, providing informations about Open Source on various mobile platforms and Open Source Hardware and organizing hardware rework parties (Neo FreeRunner). We visited and published reports from MeeGo Conference 2010 in Dublin, LinuxCon Europe and Embedded Linux Europe Conference 2011 in Prague on our Czech website. We organized local Openmobility conferences in Zlín and Brno.
